REGIONAL ORGANISER - Swansea Office

GMB Wales & South West Region has a vacancy for an Organiser and we are seeking applications from individuals with a commitment to help us grow membership within the Region. 

Before applying, candidates need to be aware that the exact location relating to the appointment has yet to be decided, although the successful post holder will initially be based in either Swansea sub office or regional office. Prospective candidates also need to be aware that they can be relocated to any other Office within the Wales and South West Region at the discretion of the Regional Secretary and in order to satisfy the needs of the Region. 

Applicants must possess the following: 

•  A proven record in servicing, organising, recruitment and retention

•  A broad understanding of trade union objectives, and a strong personal commitment to these objectives

•  Experience of working as part of a team, strong interpersonal skills and an ability of working in challenging environments

•  The capacity to display energy, enthusiasm, resilience, commitment and an ability to use individual initiative

The post is subject to a 12 month probationary period during which time quarterly development reviews will be conducted to assess overall performance. 

The hours of work are unspecified and will necessarily entail an element of unsocial hours, which will include on occasions weekend work. Periods of working away from home may also be required. 

The successful applicant will be provided with a car and will therefore be required to be in possession of a full clean driving licence.

Successful candidates from the assessment day will go forward for a formal interview on a date to be confirmed. The successful candidate will be required to commence employment with the GMB with as soon as possible.
