Exciting Line–up for Regional Equality Conference 11 Oct 2017

This month GMB Wales and South West will be hosting our annual Regional Equality conference at our HQ in Garley House, Cardiff on October 21st.

The Annual event is an opportunity for GMB members who identify with a Liberation campaign or an identity Caucus to meet up and discuss the health and progress of these campaigns across the region, as well as vote on possible conference motions for GMB national congress next year.

The Conference will be addressed by the Shadow Women’s minister and GMB member Carolyn Harris MP, who will update members on her work in the shadow cabinet and in within the Labour party of progressing the cause of Liberation movements.

Carolyn Harris MP will be our keynote speaker

There will also be a short presentation on Hate Crime delivered by Darren Hembrow, to help members correctly identify Hate crime and provide support and counsel for its victims.

Senior organiser for Equalities in the region Ruth Bennett was excited by this year’s agenda and line-up of speakers.

“Regional Equality conference is always a highlight in our yearly calendar, and I’m excited by our line-up of speakers this year as well as the chance to catch up with members from across the region.

Senior organiser Ruth Bennett

“This year we’re lucky enough to be addressed by the Shadow Women and equalities minister, which will no doubt be one of the most interesting and informative events of the day and I want to thank her for making time in her busy schedule.

“If you can’t make it to conference, you can still keep up with the event on the day via our social media feeds on Twitter and Facebook and by using the #WSWEQ17 .”

The event will run from 11.00am – 3.00pm, with a short break for light refreshments at 13.30.

There are still a few places left, so if you are keen to attend please contact Ruth.Bennett@GMB.org.uk to register your interest.
