Following the decision to base-port all of the Queen Elizabeth-class carriers at Portsmouth Naval Base, which has protected its future for next fifty years, unions are seeking reassurance that the majority of the next generation of frigates will be based at Devonport, securing the future of the largest naval operational base in Western Europe.

Exciting Line–up for Regional Equality Conference 11 Oct 2017

This month GMB Wales and South West will be hosting our annual Regional Equality conference at our HQ in Garley House, Cardiff.

Act now on the public pay cap or face the consequences at the next election say GMB 6 Oct 2017

GMB Wales and South West are urging the local councils across the region to lift the public pay cap and ease the burden on hard pressed public sector workers.

With the political conference season in full swing, public sector pay continues to capture high levels of interest and debate. Whilst last week the Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn gave an unequivocal commitment to end the pay cap, so far the Tories have failed to present a common position.

GMB Responds to the Welsh Budget 3 Oct 2017

The Welsh Government’s Budget injected much needed funds into Welsh public services and included an injection of £450Million into the Welsh NHS over the next two years.

The Budget also proposed a higher starting rate on the Land Transaction Tax, meaning that the average first time buyer in Wales will pay no tax at all when buying their first home.
